Well friends, it’s that time of year again. Apple is holding a “Special Event” on Wednesday September 1st. Rumors are flying about what will be revealed at the event. Typically the fall event focuses on music, so we can expect iPod refreshes. Engadget has an overview of all the product rumors that have come out thus far.
Images of third party cases have been popping up that seem to confirm some of the rumors. The iPod Nano appears to be getting a 1.7 inch touch screen and the iPod Touch is getting a make over with a front facing camera.
We may also see an announcements regarding a iTV/Apple TV and possibly an iTunes move toward the cloud.
Now we’ve done our part to spread the rumors and generate more Apple buzz. The event will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 AM PST and there will be lots of organizations live blogging as it happens. And remember to keep an eye out for your obligatory Apple email after the event confirming how amazing their new products really are.

According to a leading UK retailer, John Lewis, the next-gen iPod Touch will come standard with a 5MP camera, FaceTime, and the ability to shoot video in high definition. At the Xmas in July event in central London, the retailer let slip some potential iPod Touch specs citing “noises we’re hearing from suppliers”.

The prediction details potential features such as an added flash to the 5MP camera, HD video at 720p, YouTube uploading, and FaceTime with calls over Wi-Fi (alluding to the addition of a front-facing camera). The new Apple gadget to be unveiled in September may also include an accelerometer and gyroscope the same as the new iPhone 4 allowing for improved gaming. However substantiated the claims may be, just hearing about these specs is reason enough to get excited about the iPod Refresh in September.

According to a 9to5Mac report, the iPhone 4 Beta 4 update shared some interesting information with us. Though it is commonly expected that the iPhone 4 is going to have an LED flash in its list of features, what is not so commonly expected is that a camera flash may be a feature of the iPad or the iPod touch in the feature. Though none of the recent prototypes alluded to this possibility, the iPhoneOS 4 code gives us some insight:

There you have it in black and white code script, the iPad with a flash. This next bit of code shows that the iPod touch will definitely have a camera:

Doesn’t look like Apple can keep too much secret anymore.
