May 17th, 2010
Digitimes senior analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, citing sources from Taiwan-based component makers, reports that Foxconn, Apple’s iPhone 4G maker, is planning to ship 24 million of the new iPhones in 2010 beginning in June. According to the report, the first shipment will consist of 4.5 million iPhones for the first part of the year, with 19.5 million phones to be shipped over the rest of the year.

The DigiTimes report also mentions some of its new features including fringe-field switching (FFS) technology which will improve the display’s performance in sunlight and create a wider viewing angle, just in time for iBooks on the iPhone. Additionally, the new iPhones will feature a thinner, 960×640 resolution screen, which will create room for larger batteries and exceed Android’s 854×480 resolution.
For confirmation of this and other iPhone 4g claims, we will just have to wait for WWDC on June 7th when the official unveiling of the iPhone 4G is expected.
