Love Could Cost Less Than An iPad
February 12th, 2010

Valentine’s Day (also known as Single Awareness Day (SAD), VD or any other hateful Hallmark attack) is trending on the internet.  Gimmicks spanning from what to get your lover, to why Valentine’s Day should be banned, are saturating the whole internet.  Rather than saying why you should or why you shouldn’t be celebrating this “holiday,” here is a list of things to do or get if you are feeling like spreading the love or getting some love:

1.  Boyfriend/Girlfriend Body Pillow: “Wrap yourself up in the Boyfriend Body Pillow. The Boyfriend Pillow is a soft and pleasurable body arm pillow that resembles the torso of a big strong man with a comforting arm that cuddles you. Feel his safe and warm embrace while comfortably resting on his chest.” [via Amazon]

Read this successful Amazon review:

I am a lonely man. I mostly blame the attention-deprived years of my childhood, but I also blame my failed marriage to that cold-hearted wench who took half of what I own when we got divorced. Over the years I’ve made up for my loneliness with promiscuity and alcohol-fueled love affairs, but sometimes that’s not enough.

If this sounds familiar to you – then you need the Boyfriend Pillow.

Unlike a normal pillow, the Boyfriend Pillow has a built-in arm that you can wrap around your body, simulating the sensitive touch of a lover’s embrace. Made of ultra-comfy memory foam, the Boyfriend Pillow is shaped like a man’s torso and can be positioned in a number of different ways (trust me).

Why the Boyfriend Pillow is wearing a button-down dress shirt to bed is beyond me, but I can’t complain. With a little imagination, and a splash of perfume, we lonely men can close our eyes and pretend that the pillow is actually a woman wearing one of our favorite dress shirts. 2.  ”I’m Looking For You” Supermarket:

In Beijing, there is a supermarket called “I’m Looking For You.”  At this market, you can for just 20 yuan, or $3, be involved in this dating service at the market.  One client said that his mother told him that “My ideal woman would be someone who I can get along with, who is kind-hearted, and who is responsible. My mother says that the reason why I haven’t found her yet is because I’m too picky.”  Perhaps rather than being too picky it is an issue of the surplus of men in China due to the previous one-child policy.  However, rather than to get into a discussion regarding the misogynistic, social and political rules that have delightfully comeback to ironically slap China in the face, you can find love here for $3 [via .

3.  If either of these options do not suit your needs of giving or receiving love over the weekend, you can always go to all the all inspiring despair.com to get your fulfillment of hope in romance and in the world.  Currently they have BitterSweets, which are candies themed: “Dysfunctional,” “Dumped,” and “Dejected.”
